If your flowers are arranged in florist’s foam, top up the water daily, taking care not to overfill.
If you have received cut flowers, trim the stems diagonally about 2cm from the base prior to placing in clean water. Take special care to remove all leaves that will be underwater, as they contain bacteria that may quickly proliferate and spoil the water.
Position your flowers away from draughts, direct heat and/or sunlight. Do not place them on heat generating appliances such as TVs and microwaves.
As some flowers will last longer than others, carefully remove spent blooms, especially if other flowers in your display are still alive.

Willoughby is a residential suburb located eight kilometres north of Sydney's central business district, on the Lower North Shore. Found between Chatswood and Northbridge, Willoughby is prized for its pleasant tree-lined streets and proximity to central Sydney and the Lower North Shore's commercial hubs. Neighbouring North Willoughby and Willoughby East are separate suburbs.
The suburb was named in honour of Sir James Willoughby Gordon, who was the quartermaster-general in England when the First Fleet sailed to Botany Bay. Willoughby Post Office opened in 1871. The Willoughby Incinerator - a waste disposal facility, designed by Walter Burley Griffin, was built in 1934. The facility is heritage-listed and now operates as an art gallery and recreational space. The Nine Network's headquarters were based in Willoughby until moving to North Sydney in late 2020, which has seen the demolition of its 233 metre high TV Tower. The tower's site is to be redeveloped into residential land.
The Incinerator Art Space is found on Small Street, in the suburb's south, adjacent to Hallstrom Park, Willoughby's largest green space. Willoughby Leisure Centre is also found on Small Street, next to the park and art space. The suburb's main shopping high streets are found on Willoughby Road and Penshurst Street.
