If your flowers are arranged in florist’s foam, top up the water daily, taking care not to overfill.
If you have received cut flowers, trim the stems diagonally about 2cm from the base prior to placing in clean water. Take special care to remove all leaves that will be underwater, as they contain bacteria that may quickly proliferate and spoil the water.
Position your flowers away from draughts, direct heat and/or sunlight. Do not place them on heat generating appliances such as TVs and microwaves.
As some flowers will last longer than others, carefully remove spent blooms, especially if other flowers in your display are still alive.

McMahons Point is a harbourside suburb found three kilometres north of Sydney's central business district, on the Lower North Shore. This affluent residential suburb sits on a small peninsula between Berrys Bay and Lavender Bay, on the shores of Sydney Harbour. McMahons point is adjacent to Waverton and North Sydney, as well as the suburb of Lavender Bay.
The suburb is named after Michael McMahon, a young Irish farm labourer who came to Australia in 1848. McMahon became a successful manufacturing businessman and Mayor of present-day North Sydney. In 1864, he built the McMahon family home on the area's headland. The suburb was once primarily a working-class district, but has since transformed into one of Sydney's most prized and well-heeled harbourside enclaves.
In 1957, local residents and architect Harry Seidler campaigned against McMahons Point being rezoned into an industrial precinct. They were successful and the suburb has remained residential since, with Seidler designing a controversial apartment tower which still exists today: Blues Point Tower, located on Blues Point Road near the suburb's southern peninsular tip. Nearby to the tower, Blues Point Reserve and Henry Lawson Reserve offer panoramic views of Sydney Harbour and its iconic namesake bridge. The suburb's ferry wharf is found in the southeast, adjacent to Lavender Bay.
