If your flowers are arranged in florist’s foam, top up the water daily, taking care not to overfill.
If you have received cut flowers, trim the stems diagonally about 2cm from the base prior to placing in clean water. Take special care to remove all leaves that will be underwater, as they contain bacteria that may quickly proliferate and spoil the water.
Position your flowers away from draughts, direct heat and/or sunlight. Do not place them on heat generating appliances such as TVs and microwaves.
As some flowers will last longer than others, carefully remove spent blooms, especially if other flowers in your display are still alive.

Lavender Bay is a small harbourside suburb located three kilometres north of Sydney's central business district, on the Lower North Shore. The suburb is an affluent residential area found between McMahons Point and Milsons Point. Lavender Bay is only 0.2 km2 and sits on a small bay of the same name.
The suburb and its namesake bay are named after George Lavender, the petty officer from the prison hulk "Phoenix", which was moored at the bay for a number of years. Lavender lived on a 14-acre property adjacent to the estate of Billy Blue. During the construction of the Sydney Harbour Bridge (1923 to 1932), Lavender Bay railway station was the terminus for the North Shore Line. The station was only briefly operational and is now railway storage sidings.
Lavender Bay's residential streets are largely on its western side, with Watt Park, Clark Park and Wendy Whiteley's Secret Garden the presiding features of the suburb's centre. The heritage-listed Brett Whiteley House is a Federation style arts and crafts dwelling located at 1 Walker Street. Luna Park lies south adjacent to Lavender Bay's eastern harbour foreshore and can be accessed via Peter Kingston Walkway.
