If your flowers are arranged in florist’s foam, top up the water daily, taking care not to overfill.
If you have received cut flowers, trim the stems diagonally about 2cm from the base prior to placing in clean water. Take special care to remove all leaves that will be underwater, as they contain bacteria that may quickly proliferate and spoil the water.
Position your flowers away from draughts, direct heat and/or sunlight. Do not place them on heat generating appliances such as TVs and microwaves.
As some flowers will last longer than others, carefully remove spent blooms, especially if other flowers in your display are still alive.

Crows Nest is a commercial and residential suburb located five kilometres north of Sydney's central business district, on the Lower North Shore. Situated immediately north of North Sydney, Crows Nest features a significant commercial district in its western region, which extends into neighbouring St Leonards.
The area that constitutes the suburb today was originally part of a sizeable land grant made to Edward Wollstonecraft in 1821. Wollstonecraft built a cottage and named it the "Crow's Nest" due to its elevated and commanding position over the surrounding area. Alexander Berry, Wollstonecraft's business partner, later built a more substantial home on the estate in 1850 named Crow's Nest House. North Sydney Demonstration School now stands at the house's former location, in present day Waverton, but the house's original gates still exist at the Pacific Highway entrance to the school.
Crows Nest's bustling commercial district is home to wide array of restaurants, bars and retail stores and is found in the suburb's southwestern portion, off the Pacific Highway, Willoughby Road and Alexander Street. Crows Nest is largely residential to the east, and St Thomas Rest Park, on West Street, is the suburb's largest green space. The park, as a former cemetery, is also home to a small local history museum - Sexton's Cottage Museum.
